Data sharing consulting and information governance strategy for the national Biomedical Research Centres
Data sharing consulting services delivered to the UK’s 5 original national Biomedical Research Centres (at Oxford, Cambridge, Guys, Kings, and UCLH).
The Chief Medical Officer, Dame Sally Davies’ challenged the UK’s 5 national Biomedical Research Centres to share complex and voluminous patient data sets for pioneering population level research.
IG Smart Ltd developed the Information Governance framework which enabled the National Institute for Health
Research’s Health Informatics Collaborative to successfully share data for research.
The complex programme involved anonymising, pseudonymising and merging data from a myriad of clinical systems. We worked closely with academicians, clinicians, technologists, and programme managers to successfully deliver the programme (the first of its kind, in the UK).
The Legal, Information Governance, and Information Security consultancy for the programme was led by IG-Smart Ltd’s Principal Consultant, Michael Abtar, and the programme was managed by Senior Consultant, Miranda Howard.
